Description

First class wall diving is the feature of the off shore reefs in the Red Sea. The pinnacle of these sites are the ‘Wall to Wall’ triangle of reefs The Brothers, Daedalus and Elphinstone.

Strong currents and deep blue water are the catalysts to bring the pelagic species flocking to these reefs. The reefs themselves provide exquisite homes for a multitude of marine life.

The wafting soft colours are adorned with thousands of colourful fish, the Gorgonian fans and hard corals provide magnificent back drops, all being patrolled by the reef predatory species.

Brothers Islands provides the variety on this exclusively wall diving programme. Perched on the northern point of Big Brother lies the sloping wreckage of the Numidia providing a spectacular burst of colour and shape to the reef. Around the corner on the western side is a second wreck, the Adia, this is in depths that beckons exploration by tech divers who can enter the wreck at 60m and swim up an out at around 30m.

Little Brother has its features too, the northern ledge provides a platform for watching out in to the blue where hammerheads and other pelagics frequent.  The southeast Gorgonian forest is another spot not to be missed.

Daedalus reef is a huge reef around 160km south-east of Port Ghalib. All sides of Daedalus are deep plunging walls with an incredible variety of corals and marine life. To the southern end is a small plateau which is often a hive of activity. The highlight of Daedalus is the chance to swim with a school of Hammerhead sharks that call the northern point their home.

Elphinstone Reef is one of the most famous sites in the southern Red Sea, located around 20km from Port Ghalib. The reef is extended in its northern and southern parts by 2 plateau running from 15 to 45m completely carpeted with soft corals. The West and East sides are beautiful vertical drop-offs.

There are no opportunities for night diving on this route and is not suited to divers with less than 50 dives.
